Extending west of Fifth Avenue from 14th to 29th Streets, Chelsea is much more a village than it is a typical Manhattan neighborhood. New York corporate apartment residents will find that Chelsea has it all – nightlife, art, shopping, and recreation – right outside their front door. As a New York corporate apartment resident, take a stroll along West 24th Street between Ninth and Tenth Avenues to see the Greek Revival architecture. Seventh, Eighth and Ninth Avenues feature a conglomeration of immigrant history, where shops, restaurants and one-of-a-kind boutiques abound. Originally the city’s first theater district, the art scene in Chelsea continues to thrive with more than 200 galleries, including the Gagosian Gallery, the Matthew Marks Gallery and the Sonnabend. The neighborhood features many landmarks, such as the Chelsea Hotel, the former home of writers and artists such as William S. Burroughs and Bob Dylan. Chelsea nightlife is also alive and well - many celebrities have been spotted at current club favorites such as Marquee and Bungalow 8. There’s no shortage of restaurants either: Francisco’s is the place to go for great lobster at reasonable prices; for a trendier scene, stop by Elmo for chic comfort food and cocktails. On a nice day, head west to the Hudson River Esplanade for green grass and river views, or visit the outdoor café at the Chelsea Brewing Company and enjoy home-brewed beers. If it’s sports that you like, The Chelsea Piers has something for everyone – golf, bowling, skating, batting cages, and rock climbing. Kids’ programs include soccer, gymnastics, baseball, and more. Commuting to other parts of Manhattan from Chelsea is easy, as the A,C,E, 1,2,3, 9 and L subway trains and several bus lines run right through the neighborhood; however, Chelsea is such a vibrant locale, you may find that you don’t want to leave!
