Richmond’s downtown is unique compared to other areas of the city because of its intensive mix of retail, commercial, and residential development. When Richmonders refer to “downtown,” they generally mean the business or governmental center of the city. Another Richmond favorite is Maymont Park, operated by the Maymont Foundation. A petting farm and zoo, acres of lush grounds and exotic gardens make this a popular tourist attraction.
