Collegedale is an ideal location, only minutes from three major interstates, numerous highways, and the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport. Transportation is primarily by automobile although taxi service and public buses are available. This city is home to one of the largest snack cake makers in the industry - McKee Foods Corporation, with their line of Little Debbie snack cakes. McKee is one of the largest employers in Hamilton County. Collegedale is also home to Southern Adventist University, a private, religious-based university with 2,500 students. In fact, much of the history of Collegedale can be traced to the early beginnings of the university. Alongside the university, there is the Lynn H. Wood Archaeological Museum and the Chattanooga Hamilton County Bicentennial Library operates a branch in Collegedale.
