West Mobile is best known for the regional airport, economic growth and lower local taxes. There are many shopping centers and movie theaters in the area. Most of the commercial and residential growth in Mobile has been slowly creeping west. Mobile corporate apartment residents are within close proximity to many of the area’s companies. Financial establishments, grocery stores and local shopping centers are distributed throughout the district. Mobile has a local bus transportation line called The Wave Transit. There are different divisions of the transit system for each area in the city. Local roads are very easy to navigate. There are many diverse eating establishments from fast foods to full-course restaurants. These include Carraba’s Italian Food, Bilotti’s, Olive Garden, Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, Outback, and a plethora of seafood restaurants. West Mobile is home to many private and public schools. The University of South Alabama is also in West Mobile. There are a couple of parks in West Mobile. Mobile corporate apartment residents can run along the bike path or enjoy a leisurely picnic at Municipal (Langan) Park. There is a large open area for disc golf enthusiasts and a sanctioned area for pet lovers. Among other attractions, there are many walking paths, a playground, a large lake with paddle boats, a nice pavilion with picnic tables and restrooms. West Mobile is the proverbial heartbeat of Mobile. When the pulse of West Mobile quickens, the rest of the city tends to prosper. The City of Mobile has looked to its West for ideas and guidance when major issues arise. Many new schools, elementary to high school, have been constructed in West Mobile. The business district in the area seems to garner most of the attention due to its two malls and many large shopping centers. The West Mobile area also encompasses the Local Regional Airport.
