LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the nation's preeminent program for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. These properties have been awarded LEED- certification established by the U.S. Green Building Council and verified by the Green Building Certificate Institute (GBCI).

Furnished apartments in such locales as Washington, D.C., Chicago and Los Angeles are designated as LEED-certified based upon energy use, lighting, water reduction and material use increase the indoor air quality as well as incorporating a variety of other sustainable strategies.
